I live in a constant and fluent intersection between art, craft, and design. Early on I was taught the maxim that form follows function, and my work is the result of an infinite exploration of what could happen when form follows beliefs, thoughts, emotions, and memories.
I see my ceramic constructions as a sequence of movements and marks that speak to their literal journey in becoming an object. The process is as interesting to me as the end result. I purposefully leave all traces of my interaction with the material visible. Cracks, tears, “mistakes”, even if not recognizable when looking at the whole, are present and are a visual recording of my creative process.
Playfulness and color are traces of memorable moments and my cultural background. My work is a non-linear map of personal life experiences that result in thematic narratives that can be viewed through the window of space, time, and scale.
